It seems like I have been hearing about a lot of miracles recently. Just yesterday I was informed about two separate people who went into the hospital very sick and then left completely well, baffling the doctors. When we hear of miracles like these, many people may be skeptical, but my heart always wells up with joy and I can feel it in my soul; the moving of the Holy Spirit, an increase in my faith.
I know a lot of people do not believe in miracles. Others believe that God did perform the miracles recorded in the Bible, but that he no longer performs miracles today. I say to those people that God is unchanging. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We may not always get the miracle we are looking for, but that doesn’t mean God has stopped moving today.
I have experienced several miracles in my life that have blown me away and left me humbled and awed that God would choose to reveal himself to me in such a way. I want to share one with you today. Maybe you will be encouraged in your faith, as well.
The Story of the Rice and Beans
On one particular day, our group had planned to feed a group of people at two different sites. We had cooked nearly 300 hot dogs in preparation and the local missionaries had bagged 162 bags of rice and 162 bags of beans to hand out. We know the exact number because they had been counted many times.
We don’t know how many people came through that line exactly, maybe 250? Maybe 300? What we do know is that the containers with the bags of beans and the bags of rice never went empty. After we had given food to every person, we looked down and there was our boxes, still full of beans and rice. There is no logical, mathematical, or physical explanation for how this could happen. The only explanation is that God multiplied the food so that hungry people could be fed, and fed abundantly. I saw it with my own eyes, I touched the beans and rice with my own hands.
What about you? Have you witnessed a miracle? Do you believe that God still performs miracles today? Your testimony could be an encouragement to others today, so please share!
