Marriage is not easy. People told me that before I was married and I didn’t understand it. But it’s true. Marriage is not easy. You have to intentionally think about and care for another human being for the rest of your life. And let’s be honest, sometimes that’s hard to do.
That is why I am so grateful for Jennifer Smith. She is the blogger behind Unveiled Wife and the Lord has placed a deep passion in her to encourage wives in their marriages. She’s not afraid to tackle issues like sexual intimacy and pornography and has become a very valuable resource to wives everywhere. I know I, as well as thousands of other wives across the world, have gained encouragement from her posts .
Jennifer recently published a 30 day devotional for wives called Wife After God: Drawing Closer to God & Your Husband. She was very kind to give me a copy of her devotional to review for you!
I have to be honest, usually I am not very successful with completing devotionals because I hate to journal. (Kind of funny to hear coming from a blogger! lol) But seriously, I hate to write things out. I could type on a computer for hours, but require me to write something out in long hand and I shrivel into a corner and whimper. I was so relieved to find that the daily devotions only had 2 to 4 questions that required some kind of writing. Even I can handle that!
Each day begins with a focus verse and then turns into a marriage-related thought. Many of the thoughts contain stories and personal experiences and all of them are deep revelations to God’s purpose and design for marriage. The topics cover everything from intimacy to forgiveness and beyond. Each day also contains a challenge designed to draw you closer to your husband. I would recommend this devotional to any wife, especially if you are struggling in your marriage, considering divorce, unhappy, or having a hard time letting go of anger or unforgiveness towards your spouse.
