Ah, it’s Valentine’s day. Gotta admit – not my favorite holiday. Although this one takes the cake.
As I write this post, my husband is watching a YouTube video on installing toilets.
Why? you ask.
Because our toilet drives me crazy. LITERALLY. I slept on the couch last night because I hate our toilet. It is worse than having a newborn. (although I LOVE newborns…so bad example) Recently it has started making this high pitched whistling sound followed by a gurgling water sound followed by a loud grunting sound at random intervals throughout the night. It wakes me up every. single. time. It also wakes up the baby.
So with the seriousness of a very serious person, I told my husband yesterday that for Valentine’s day, the most romantic thing he could do for me is fix the toilet.
I was serious.
So today, when most couples were showering each other with flowers and cards, we loaded up our circus crew and drove to the home improvement store where I lovingly stared at my husband as our children asked 1,000 toilet questions while he picked out the needed toilet parts.
Now if that’s not love, I don’t know what is.
Then we got home and as he was taking out the old toilet parts, there was a slight mishap and the whole corner of the porcelain tank broke right out of the toilet.
So this man of mine, he drove back to the home improvement store, and he took 2/3 of our offspring with him because he’s either crazy or he loves a good challenge. (I guess the same could be said for marrying me!) 😉
Anyways, he ended up having to go to two home improvement stores only to find out that no one carries the toilet tank we need because our toilet is so old.
So here we are on Valentine’s day. We’re down a toilet and watching toilet YouTube videos, but I envision a peaceful night of sleep ahead of me and I don’t think I would have it any other way.
Valentine’s day is way over-rated.
But acts of love are not.
Happy Valentine’s day my friends. May your toilets run quietly and your love for others show wildly!
What’s the most interesting way you’ve ever spent Valentine’s Day?
