It’s November. ::Deep breath:: Soak it in. These next months always seem to fly by.
Our Family Thanksgiving garland is already getting heavy with all of the things we are thankful for. My kids really get into it. Today one kid wanted me to write down that he was thankful for pots that are the right size for making macaroni and cheese. Another told me to write down “grills”, as in the thing you cook on outside. They are having to get creative to think of things they are thankful for that haven’t been said yet.
I love these moments and these little traditions we are building together as a family. I savor these conversations and these moments to point them to Jesus – He is the one worthy of all our praise and thanksgiving.
And tonight as they sleep soundly in their beds and the pile of unfolded laundry is scattered on my couch and my mental to-do list is nagging at me to get started, I have to wonder “Am I doing a good enough job reflecting God?”.
Do you ever feel that way?
I would hate for my kids to grow up and to look back on their childhood and not see God’s hand in it.
That’s why we try so hard to be intentional about these moments.
And as these weeks of November swiftly drift by, are you prepared to fight the commercialism and business of the Christmas season? If you don’t go into it with a plan, chances are you will have a hard time being intentional about keeping your family focused on Christ.
Have you considered a family devotional?
That’s why I want to ask you if you have considered a family devotional? Several years ago my husband (seminary major) and I (education major), combined forces and prayerfully developed a fun family devotional to help families stay focused during this season.
This devotional is different from anything else out there. It’s 25 days of devotions that walk you through the different elements of the nativity story with a section for parents, a read-aloud section, a family devotional section, an activity section, and a prayer section. Do one part, do them all, do whatever works best for your family. The important thing is you do something!

We would be honored if you would join us this year in studying the birth of our Savior and all of the miraculous events leading up to it. You can’t help but have a whole new appreciation for the nativity story when you dive into those details and see the mighty hand of God on every page.
If you have used the devotional in the past we would love to hear your feedback!

(P.S. The proceeds from this devotional will be going towards our adoption. The next fee we owe is $3000 to be placed in the matchbook, so your purchase means a lot to us!)
